Q. What is the signup and purchase process?
The SecureMe2 Purchase and Installation process has four steps.

1. Register to create a secure account
2. Select the number of licenses you wish to buy (1 for each PC you have)
3. Download Trend Micro Officescan on each PC if more than one
4. Install the software and activate the service

Q. Tell me about the FREE 30 day trial?
The FREE 30 day trial is completely free and is a full featured SecureMe2 services based on Trend Micro OfficeScan. You only need to create an account by providing a username and password and simply select the FREE 30 Day trial link. Simple as that. Then during the 30 day period, you can chose to purchase a SecureMe2 service license or cancel the service, no questions asked.

Q. What is Spyware?
Spyware is malicious software that hides on your PC and monitors what you do.  It can be as simple as watching what Internet sites you go to and sending the information back to spam creators or even collecting passwords and bank account details when you use Internet banking for hackers to break into your account.  The SecureMe2 solution includes Spyware protection.

Q. Can I change the firewall configuration?
No.  One of the benefits for this service is that we have pre-configured the firewall options to account for the majority of customer’s needs – this way you can’t inadvertently change something or turn it off and lose your protection.  If you have specific firewall requirements including the need to change settings then this service isn’t for you.  We recommend you purchase a stand-alone hardware or software firewall.

Q. How often are updates done?
Checks are done on a daily basis and updates are applied to your PC as soon as they are available so you’ll have the quickest possible response in the event of a new virus being discovered.

Q. Will the updates slow my PC down or interrupt my work?
Updates are always done in the background and should have no impact on your normal PC operation.

Q. Do I need Internet access?
This service is delivered and managed via the Internet so Internet access is mandatory.

Q. Am I protected from Hackers?
Yes.  The firewall component of the service will stop anyone from the Internet trying to access your PC without your permission.

Q. What are worms and Trojans and am I protected from them?
Worms and Trojans are different forms of viruses that work away in the background without you noticing and can collect information such as keystrokes to capture passwords.  The Trend Micro solution will protect your from worms and Trojans.

Q. Does this solution provide 100% protection?
It isn’t possible to provide 100% protection as new hacking techniques, software vulnerabilities and viruses are developed and discovered everyday.  The Trend Micro solution is designed to ensure you have the best possible protection always on and updated so that any potential threats are minimised.  The software at the heart of this solution is the same as large companies such as banks use to protect themselves so it is one of the most secure solutions on the market.

Q. I already have a firewall – do I still need this?
This solution will work with an existing hardware firewall on your router or modem to give you extra protection, but if you currently use a software firewall, it will need to be switched off to run this solution.  The total security bundle of the Trend Micro Officescan solution combined with the constant updates and management from SecureMe2 make this an excellent solution.

Q. I already have virus protection from my Internet Service Provider or email provider, why do I need this?
That service only protects your email, not your PC or your server.  If you receive a file via a CD, a USB drive or download a file from the Internet you won’t be protected. The security solution SecureMe2 provides protects your entire PC no matter how the data arrives.

Q. Will it work with a wireless network?
Yes.  The software resides on each PC and updates come down from the Internet via whatever type of connection you have.

Q. I have lots of PC’s.  Is there a server based version?
Yes.  However we still recommend a multi-layered approach to security.  This means that you should protect your PC’s and network at different points to ensure total protection.  Therefore you should apply this service to your server and your PC’s (especially notebooks) to protect from files that arrive from a source other than your server.

Q. What do I do if I suspect I have a virus?
When you first install the software a scan will be performed immediately and any virus’ detected will be removed.  If you suspect there might be a virus that hasn’t been detected, contact SecureMe2 and we can diagnose any other problem you might have.

Q. Are there any contracts or cancellation charges?
No.  One of the best features of this service is that it is a pay as you go service based on a monthly subscription.  You can cancel at any time without penalty.

Q. I already have another security product like Nortons, can I still run it with this service?
No.  The benefits of this service include the management component from SecureMe2 and the low monthly subscription payments.  If you choose to use this service, you will need to uninstall any other security software you have.
